When to take a pregnancy test

So it's my first month off the pill in 11 or so years (medical reasons) I'm trying for a baby but I have no idea how long to wait to take a pregnancy test? I've seen mixed answers and I'm so confused. I finished my period 10 days ago and it says ovulating in 2 days but I've been getting weird cramping.

Wait 28+ days from the day your period started. A cheap and simple thing to help improve timing is cheap OPKs (I recommend Pregmate off Amazon). You will soon learn how your cycle normally happens. Don’t think of overall days, break it down into follicular phase and luteal phase. Period yo ovulation May vary each month, ovulation to period will be the same number of days each month. Of course, that’s all after normalizing after so many years on birth control, which is different for every woman.
