If I get a new but older version of a laptop, will it last?

I have a MacBook Air I got in 2014 that just broke, if I bought the same one which I believe came out in 2011, even tho it’s an older model but brand new, will it last?

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro and it still runs like practically new. However I also had a 2010 and it was slow for my taste but still worked. 
I feel Ike if you keep up with the updates you’ll be fine

In 2013 I had a PowerBook that I received in 2005. By 2013 the computer could not support some updates for software I needed for grad school so I had to get a new computer. So you may run into a problem like that.

I would assume so. Not sure what it’s called, but there is something in the computer that basically tells you the speed of the computer, I would look at that. Look over all the details, and if you’re like me and known nothing about computers, have someone who does know look over it for you.
