Are you telling anyone the gender?

We have had friends who have warned us against telling people the gender before our shower because we will be overwhelmed with pink and blue clothes. Not really a big deal. Just curious what others do.

I don’t know. I think if it’s a girl we probably won’t tell. I hate overly frilly clothing with gross sayings on them haha. We fortunately didn’t get any of that with our boy.

I just went to a shower where EVERYTHING my friend got was bubble gum pink including a giant stuffed bear that was the color of pepto bismol🤮 It convinced me that we’re not telling anyone the gender until the baby is born. I hate all the cutesy onesies with gendered messages on them like “Little Diva” or “Mommy’s tough guy”. We’re leaning toward being surprised ourselves, but even if we find out, definitely not telling anyone until baby is born. Just my preference.

We’re telling the gender before shower but I’ve made my mind up if we get too many clothes I’ll just exchange the simple ones. If there’s something special I’ll keep it but I’m not keep 50 onesies lol

As someone who’s gone to a shower were you didn’t know the sex, it’s honestly kinda difficult to find gender neutral clothing for babies that isn’t just white onsies. I think if people know you at all they will know your style and usually translate that to baby clothes. At least that’s what I do🤷🏻‍♀️. Or by looking at the registry you get an idea of what people like.

We told everyone. If I end up with excess, we’ll return what we don’t need.

With my first we told before the shower- we had a lot of gender specific things we wanted on our registry though (nursery theme, toy themes, etc). I just wasn’t a huge fan of all the neutral stuff. (Don’t get me wrong I still registered for plenty of gender neutral!) 
He was a boy though and I feel like people weren’t as inclined to go out and get boy clothes and all boy things. I have heard from other people with girls- they get so many clothes and such and less from their registry. My family and friends have always been pretty good about mainly sticking to registries though so I guess it all depends!
