Would you be upset if your OBGYN didn’t return your phone call and you had a pretty bad fall accompanied by bleeding at 20 weeks pregnant?!

I called several times. Finally got through to someone and was told I’d get a call back ASAP to get scheduled for an evaluation. I didn’t think it was an emergency because I could still feel my baby move a LOT. So I didn’t worry too much. Well, I decided to switch doctors because it left a sour taste in my mouth that they gave me the rub around about something pretty serious. Do you think I overreacted by switching? Also, it’s taking them forever to send my medical records over so I can’t even go to my new doctor to get checked until they release my records! 😡😡😡

At 20 week if you have fallen and are bleeding you go to L&D to be monitored and checked. Yes, I would be slightly upset that I didn’t get an immediate cal but I also know they have to see other patients as well.

Typically, if something is an emergency, you need to go to the hospital. If it isn't an emergency, then you need to wait and you should expect a response by the end of the day for a morning call, or next day for an afternoon call. Your post didn't mention time frame, but if it's something that you feel needs a response right away, then that warrants a trip to the hospital to get checked.

Wow. How long have you been waiting for their call?
Personally I’d walk in and make a big stink about them handling your situation so poorly. I’m petty though with stuff like this lol. Rightly so because this is your health and the baby’s health they’re messing with.
Also, if you need medical records, you would physically actually have to go into the office and sign a release form. They can’t just send your records to anyone. They need your permission and for you to sign a form.

I understand they are busy sometimes and can’t always call back right away. If that happened to me I would have gone to the ER. Falling with bleeding could be serious. I wouldn’t have bothered calling. I would have gone straight to the ER.

No because I know my OB have other patients to see and if you fell and had bleeding you should’ve went straight to L&D or to the ER. I’m 37 weeks and I never call my doctor when I felt like my water broke I just went straight to L&D and she met me there but at the same time I do get all doctors have their own ways of doing things . Just remember OB doctor offices do get very busy at times , next time try not to wait for a call back just go in because it could’ve turned out to be very serious

I have found that the best way to reach mine is through the patient portal. If I send a message that is more urgent they will have a nurse call me back pretty quickly. Calling their office directly has not worked for me.

My OB told me to call first and talk to a nurse rather than go to the ER. Unless it’s obviously an emergency. And they’ve always had a doctor or medical assistant call me back within an hour or two for spotting or anything concerning. So I’d be upset if they didn’t get back to me. 
They also have an after hours nurse phone number and a walk-in clinic so I have the option of going in to see whoever is on call. All much, much better options than sitting in a crowded germy ER and tying up those resources. (Also, The ER copay for my insurance is soo high!) 
So yeah, I don’t blame you.

If you were bleeding you should have went straight to the ER. But you are not wrong is switching doctors though. I get they are busy but that’s pretty unprofessional.
