Introducing food at 4 months? Did you wait for doctor approval?

my baby doctor said it was okay to start since he was already so big and said i could of before but i just wanted to wait till she said it was okay

We've tried foods with my son after his pediatrician said he shows all signs of being ready. He struggles with the spoon still because he just wants to suck it but he's getting used to it. He won't touch cereals. Doesn't even try. But purées of banana he at least tries to get down. We only give him one feeding a week right now

My doctor said it was ok to start at her 4 month appointment, which happened to be exactly at 4 months. We started a with peas that night and have given her bananas now too. She said to try it and if she didn’t act interested or spit most of it out she wasn’t ready. She eats all of what I give her (1 tablespoon) and completely understands how to use the spoon and everything. She even opens her mouth if you say bite.  I think she was ready

Our doctor told us today she finds most babies are ready around 5.5 months and the official recommendation is 6 months. She said my baby certainly doesn’t appear ready yet, and I agree.

Doctor said go ahead whenever from 4-6 months. She didn’t seem too interested in food, so decided to wait and just sit her down in the high chair at dinners to play with some of her tableware to get her interested. (She hated it)
One day we were just at the store, lots of time to kill waiting for my husband. We were looking at baby stuff and found the rice cereal. Bought it on impulse, she loves it and is much more aware that daddy and I eat food too. Haven’t decided when to do any actual food yet. Might let her appetite build.
