Maternity leave pay ?

I’m wondering what’s the earliest I can go on maternity leave pay this is my first pregnancy so all this is new to me I know I would need my doctors note to get it but is 28 weeks still to early to get maternity pay? I just feel exhausted every time I work my back hurts and get really dizzy as well

If you're in the US, there is no legal obligation for your employer to provide any pay for your maternity leave. They do need to hold your job for you for up to 12 weeks while you are out,  but they are not required to pay you during that time. You will have to check with your employer's HR office to see if they provide any compensation while you are on maternity leave. Some states have their own short term disability programs,  but most do not. Check to see if your state does. If they do, paid leave typically doesn't start until you have the baby, at which point you become disabled and qualify for the coverage (which is often partial pay for 6 weeks). If you experience complications during your pregnancy and your doctor pulls you out of work for medical reasons, you may qualify for disability sooner.

Depends on your company and where you are. 
I’m in Aus, and my maternity leave pay doesn’t start until he’s born and I have to send in forms to prove it. Then it’s 18 weeks from that date. 
My job has to hold my spot for 12 months though.

Does your work offer paid maternity leave? If so, that is fantastic. Mine offers the traditional 12 weeks unpaid time off but that is it.

Depends on your company’s policy. My work doesn’t offer any paid maternity leave but I was able to take up to 12 weeks unpaid if I chose to. I only took 7 though.
