Preeclampsia - 29 weeks

Amber

Ladies, I’m a bigger lady... 5’9” and 395lbs. I know my weight is crazy high, I was trying to lose weight when we conceived, I went on a diet for a month and a half, lost 10lbs, and BAM pregnant! So, I’m a lot bigger than I would’ve liked to have been with my first pregnancy. Nonetheless, my husband and I are so excited to welcome our baby boy whenever he decides to make his entrance. I am currently 29 weeks exactly and my OB is monitoring me for preeclampsia. My protein has been 1+ for a week or two and I have a slightly elevated blood pressure. I’ve never had high blood pressure before or during this pregnancy - until now. He had me do the 24hr urine analysis test and it came back with elevated protein levels. Apparently normal protein reading should be 300... mine is at 377. They are getting in contact with a company to set me up an at home BP monitor machine, so I can monitor my BP in between visits, which are every 2 weeks now. At my 28 weeks anatomy scan, they also noticed a spot on/around his kidneys. They said it was very common in boys because they have a longer urethra and tend to retain water, more-so that girls do. He has said nothing about bedrest or light activities or diet. I also had an early gestational diabetes test because of my weight (my weight being why I’m high risk) and passed with perfect readings, just did another GD test at 28 weeks and passed with good numbers as well (nowhere near boarder line or anything). My question is, has any plus sized lady dealt with preeclampsia? What all happened? This is mine and my husbands first child and I’m a bit worried about what this might mean... any success stories? Tips? Advice?

Picture of my little one so I don’t get lost 💙
