Cats and babies??

Question

I am 27 weeks pregnant and everyone keeps asking me when I’m getting rid of my cat... umm is it really that’s serious? What is it about cats and babies that when women become pregnant they give away their cat? I love my cat ive had her for 2 years she the only cat I’ve ever loved let alone like. I’ve always thought when I had kids she’s still be with me but now everyone is telling me that I need to get rid of her but not telling me why.

You don’t have to get rid of your cat. People are believing old myths and wives tales. 
There’s little risk for toxoplasmosis if you use good hygiene and keep your cat inside/use heart worm and flea protection. 
Keep your cat away from where your child will sleep. 
And supervise your child with any animal. 
It’s fine. Don’t get rid of your cat.

You don't have to get rid of your cat, you can tell them to shut up 🙄 I'd make sure you're with them when they're together just like any other animal but itll be fine.

Toxoplasmosis is a disease that outdoor cats can carry, it is transferred through feces....you don't need to get rid of your cat, but if your cat is an outdoor cat it is recommended that you either keep them inside or you have someone else change the litter box (there is also a small chance of it getting on their paws). If you can't do either try wearing gloves when changing the box to avoid getting anything on you.

I kept mine... Inside too. I added extra litter boxes too. But then she got cranky and started peeing and pooping in the tubs... Like she was mad 😂 so when we bought our house, we tried again to keep her inside. But she kept on... So no she's an outside kitty. The danger is in her tracking bacteria all over the house after using the litter box. Cat feces carry a specific bacteria that people freak out over. My plan was to isolate floor play with the baby to a room where she wasn't allowed.

I’m 21 weeks and have 2 cats and no plans to get rid of them. I’m just going to keep them out of the baby’s room while he’s sleeping

I have always had 2-3 cats at a time.  Currently have 3 and a baby.  Not getting rid of them.  It’s so unnecessary.
