What is the age limit for pregnancy ?

Hello ladies, 
I’m 34 years old newly married women. I’m in not fully connected with my husband yet so not planing to have a baby for 3-4 years. But I am worried about the age to plan a baby. Can I still have a first baby after the age of 37 or 38? 
Please share your options. Thanks in advance!

It depends on your body. Some people easily have children in their early forties, others struggle in their twenties. It depends on your eggs, you and your partners health and so much more. The sooner you start the better it is for you and your baby.

I’m 40 and pregnant with my first. I didn’t meet a partner that I wanted to have kids with until I was 39! It can and is done, but if you look at the data fertility in general drops off precipitously after 35 or so. If you’re just not ready I wouldn’t encourage you to get pregnant, but the reality is that there is no way for you to know if you’ll be one of the ones who can get pregnant or not. I’d recommend taking really good care of your health in the interim. I got pregnant the 2nd month of trying, which was amazing, but we had already booked n appointment at a fertility clinic to get checked out - I was happy to cancel that one. 33 weeks now with a perfectly healthy girl. Can’t wait to meet her!

We were trying for 4 years with no luck. After 6 months of fertility treatment I got pregnant at 40. High risk pregnancy but baby is doing good. 4 more weeks to go!

Plenty of women have babies well in to their 40’s. 
My OB told me 35-36 range is still okay but after that each year there is a slight increase for abnormalities 🤷🏻‍♀️ my aunt had a smooth pregnancy and very healthy, bright, intelligent baby and she was 43 when she gave birth 😉

Get connected with your husband! Take your time. You’ll need to rely on that bond when you have a baby together and create a third member of your team. 
If you don’t get pregnant right away then there are OBs and fertility doctors that will walk with you in that journey. We did IVF for our first and loved the experience. Also joyful baby #2 came as a surprise (no IVF).

There is no “age limit” and the myth that suddenly at age 35 your fertility dramatically decreases is TOTALLY UNTRUE. Your fertility level is mostly based on your body as an individual and doesn’t change much until you begin menopause. The age 35 myth is based in very old studies that made the assumption that all babies came from deliberate planned pregnancies ... I won’t write it all here. And while your chances of chromosomal abnormalities increases with age (like Down’s syndrome) it’s still EXTREMELY unlikely to occur based on your age alone. But also according to tests - most women who haven’t gotten accidentally OR purposely pregnant by 35 - they MAY have been born with a lower fertility level than others.

I'm 37 and had a tubal reversal in May. I lost 1 of my tubes during surgery. Just got a positive test this morning!! So its possible!!

My husband and I married when I was 37 and didn’t want to start a family right away. We took some time to just be together and now at 39 I’m expecting our first. I’m still fairly early on, but, I’ve had the blood work done and all my results came back normal. I think you’re fine to wait as long as you need. You should have a baby when you’re ready, not just based on a number.
