How common is it for a women to be pregnant 40+ weeks?

Is it safe to get induced if you wanted to when your 40 weeks and 3 days or so? What’s the highest percentage of a pregnant women giving birth at 41 weeks?

A few of my friends have delivered safely at 41 weeks. Non induction tho.

My friend had an IVF baby, so they knew exactly when everything happened and they still let her go over. I think she went to 4 1 weeks before they induced her. And that was only because she was 3 cm dilated and having contractions for days. Some doctors like to let the babies cook longer.

I got induced at 40+3 with my first. I will say the contractions are a little more intense being induced. There are a lot who get induced in the week to 2 after due date.

My dr won’t induce unless you are 41wks at least. I was 41 was when I had my daughter.

In Norway the due date is set at 40+3, so here it's really really common. Getting induced early just because, unless medically necessary, isn't a really thing here either. Typically the earliest they induce you is at 41+3, again unless medically necessary. And no perhaps surprisingly, stillbirth rates here is way lower than in the US.
