How do you put your baby down to nap and sleep?

I’m curious, even though this sounds like a stupid question. 
My LO is 8 weeks old and I have to bounce him to sleep and can’t put him down to nap during the day. As soon as he is laid down he wakes up. I’ve tried multiple times putting him down during the day and nothing works! I’ve put him down almost asleep, fast asleep, wide awake and tried patting him. Nothing works! 
How do you put your LO down (rock, bounce etc). Do they sleep in your arms or crib? When you put them down are they awake, drowsy or fast asleep?

Mine uses her soother and I get her to sleep in the swing. Then I usually stop the swing when's she's asleep.

Babies can not self sooth till at least 3 to 4 months old. I mentioned this exact thing to my 9 week old sons doctor and she said at this age you do what you can to get them to sleep. But during the day at least one nap a day to try and put them down when they are not fully asleep to get them to try to do it on their own. It's ok for them to cry for 5 min and to pick them up calm them down and try again for 3 times and if they still dont fall asleep on their own to call it quits. But its important to try once a day after 2 months old. At some point they'll get the idea and itll work. I'm still working on it... on day 3 and still hasn't worked but I'm willing to try it since the dr recommended it.

I put my baby down to sleep and now lately shes been ready to be put down drowsy but awake only sometimes but I wouldnt rush this process otherwise its miserable. Prioritize your need for time or sleep and when there is time for you you can try sleep training if you have the time and patience at a particular time of day. I just put mine down wherever she will sleep. Swing, bouncer, crib. I lay her on her side in the crib with props in front and behind because I know she can lift her head good in her sleep and turn away if her nose is covered. She doesnt sleep well if at all on her back yet. Side sleep seemed to help get her to transition to crib. She doesnt get every sleep in her crib yet though.

Mine either falls asleep on me and then I put her down or she falls asleep herself whilst sucking her dummy

My LO usually gets sleep around 2 or 3 pm which is usually when I feed her too so I feed her and than lay her next to me in my arm and I kinda rock and pat her and she falls asleep, the bad thing is she only falls asleep in my arms so I can’t do much around that time she will not take naps by herself 🙄 but she will nap
For 2 to 3 hours like that

I think having a somewhat consistent sleep routine with little things that signal it’s time for a rest helps. My little one is a month old and we’re still figuring out what works for him. Sometimes he wants to be bounced, or swayed, or rocked. Swaddling, white noise, and a dark room are good. My 17 month old is on a good routine so I’m just going with that and hoping he catches on.

I put my LO down asleep or almost asleep and in the day he’s in his sleepyhead and at night is snuzpod cot. Not sure they can put themselves to sleep yet so so usually rock him or rub his back but don’t do too much or they get used to it.
