Are you more likely to donate to a local charity or a charity that supports other parts of the world?
With Christmas coming up it has me thinking about all the different charities out there that you can support. Some of these charities support local families like at the Salvation Army organization in Canada families can sign up to receive a toy hamper for their children where christmas presents are provided, they can also sign up to receive a Christmas food hamper that provides these families with a turkey, ham and other staples of a traditional Christmas meal. On the other hand there are charities that are aimed at supporting other countries in the world such as “Operation Christmas Child” where you can donate a shoe box filled with Christmas presents and the company ships them to over 100 different developing countries to provide children in other countries Christmas presents. As a child my family always chose one local cause to support at Christmas time as well as a world organization and I plan to continue that tradition with my children. I’m wondering what other people do? Are you more likely to support a local organization or an organization that supports other countries and if you have a preference is there a reason? Obviously this poll can apply to year round organizations as well, it doesn’t have to just be based on who or if you support a Christmas charity.
