How was your epidural?

Im curious to everyones epidural story bc i dont think mine worked.
Before i got it i was at 7 cm then after i was fully dialted and pushing within 10 mins my pain went from being around my mid section to down there and i felt everything even the stitch i got. I remember i was screaming literally "oww oww ouch!" 
And afterwards they had to sweep me to get all of my placenta and that hurt just as bad as the birth itself :/ 
It makes me  think that next time i can go without one

It takes 15- 30 min for the epidural to take full effect. You got it too late which is why it didn’t work fully for you. If you went from 7 to 10 in 10 min though it did its job to help you relax enough to dilate completely.

It sounds like yours didn’t work :/ my friend had one and said she was in so much pain before but then after she got it she literally started laughing, and she and her husband were basically laughing the entire birth because she didn’t feel a thing 😂 clearly hers worked well :p

Mine definitely didn't work. I kept asking when it's supposed to work, because I was in agony (I had already been in labour for 28 hours before I caved and asked for the epidural), so they just kept  injecting more medication, but I felt everything. That's why I'm determined this time to not even ask for it. I just hope my second one will be a bit faster!

Mine didn’t work at all in fact they kept using the dose because baby was sunny side and the back labor was extricating I had been pushing for 4 hours he was stuck and had to have an episiotomy but even before that I could feel everything to the point he couldn’t cut for the episiotomy because the huge needle they used didn’t even work to numb lol. The head of anesthesiology called down to mine and cut me off because I was at a c section dose! It worked for maybe an hour I was able to sleep then it was gone and damn it hurt like hell im convinced had I just skipped it completely I would have been better off. It has left me with so many back problems ￼￼￼

Mine worked. I only felt a little pressure when he came out and I didn’t feel getting stitched up

Mine worked while I was in labor - they topped me off a couple of times and that was enough to limit it to mild discomfort the whole day while I was contracting. I think it wore off near the end, though, because I felt absolutely everything when I was pushing her out and when the doctor was stitching me up after.

I got mine too early and it worked AMAZING for the contractions but in the last few hours I could feel everything.

Both my experiences with epidural were great. It worked better on one side than the other and I could feel slight pain and pressure but NOTHING like pre-epidural.
