My husband and I are arguing with his mother and she’s acting like we’re crazy and being absolutely ridiculous. Basically, we told her we were pregnant when I was 8 weeks and asked her to keep it to herself until we say so, probably around 12 weeks. She told her husband (my husbands stepfather) which I assumed she would, she’s excited, she lives with him but we didn’t expect him to go then tell his daughters (husbands step sisters) who then Told the rest of the family. After we started getting messages from them about being pregnant we called her out on it, she first denied that she was the one that let it out 🙄 and now she’s owning it and sent us a text tonight “ok so now that we’re over that whole thing can I tell the rest of the family the gender?” WHAT THE FUCK?! Do we get NO part of this? We can’t tell the family ourselves because you took that opportunity away from us but now you also want to take away telling them the gender? She thinks we’re alienating her, keeping her “at arms length” and overall just being too sensitive. She also lives in another province, we never see her, rarely speak, my 2 year old couldn’t pick her out of a lineup but suddenly she thinks it’s okay to be involved so much that’s she’s the one to decide who, when and what is told? I’m livid but am I just being silly? Also who TF takes it upon themselves to call another family member up to say “hey did you hear blah blah blah is pregnant?” I would NEVER do that to someone, it’s not my place.
