Don't overdo it! So many women say they pump every 2 hours and I just found that very excessive anys left me with with sore nipples and I had no time for my baby. Though every women is different I found that I produce better and more milk if I pump every 5 hours. Pumping every 2 hours I could only get 1-2oz from each side. Pumping every 5 hours I get 4-8oz each side. I keep at least a days worth in the fridge and freeze the rest. Pump at least 20 minutes but no longer than 30 minutes.Get a manual pump that you can throw a ring and nipple on to keep in your diaper bag for when you're out and need to relieve your breasts or in case if you don't have any milk with you.A great tip for night time feeding is to pump right before you're going to go to sleep. Pour all of what you pumped into a large bottle to keep on your bedside table to give to the baby during the night. Depending on the lactation consultant they will say fresh pumped milk can sit out at room temperature for 6-10 hours as long as it's not too hot in your house so this is great for night feedings so you don't have to get out cold milk and wait for it to warm up.Set a cold milk out to come to room temperature on its own rather than heat it because overheating can reduce the nutrients in the milk.Drink just as much water as you were drinking while you were pregnant.
Exclusively pumping
Any moms out there who have words of encouragement for a FTM who is exclusively pumping? My baby and I tried breastfeeding but we couldn’t get a good latch to be successful. I have the Spectra S2 and love it. Any advice you may have? ☺️
