Help/advise!

I’ve been TTC these past couple months and I honestly have no idea what I’m doing. So far, me and my fiancé have been unsuccessful. We used ovulation tests the first month we tried. The test line did make progress, but it was never darker than the control line. My periods are very irregular so it’s really hard to keep track. I pay close attention to my CM and whenever it’s egg white and stretchy, I try to have sex ASAP. Nothing seems to work.
