Breastfeeding in front of in laws

Liza

My in laws are coming to stay with us from out of state to meet their grandson soon. While I’m excited to see them, I’m anxious about breastfeeding (mainly in front of my father in law) because I’ve always been a very private person. I would just feel awkward with him seeing my boobs! I use a nipple shield and my son is very squirmy. He’s only a month old so I still have to guide him onto my breast and it can take a little bit of time to latch because his arms flail around, usually knocking the shield off a few times. It’s a process! 🥴 I’ve tried to practice using a “milk snob” cover that I have but the thing is useless at this point because I can’t see my baby to help guide him on. Will it be rude of me to nurse him in private in another room? He cluster feeds at night so I feel bad if I’m just separated from them in the early evening for long stretches of time while he feeds. Any advice? Or tips on how to use a nursing cover with a new baby?
