Would you go?

Question

So I will have to travel to Australia in Feb for work. I'll roughly be 24 -25 weeks along. My husband doesn't really want me to go. My boss just emailed us to start looking for flights to Sydney. I haven't told my employer yet that I'm expecting. I plan on chatting with my dr tomorrow at my appointment. But was looking to see if anyone else has traveled internationally with a little on on board.

Can you turn this into a baby moon? We went to Italy in the second trimester with my first and it was such a special time for us. I love Australia! Go!!

For sure! That’s the perfect time to travel. I’m going to NZ- a bit earlier, I’ll be 20ish weeks but haven’t even thought twice about it!

Let me advise you that Feb is Hot weather in Australia. So keep that in mind, you may not want to be outside much. Though Australia is awesome (I have moved here),  and has plenty of resources if anything were to worry you while here (get travel insurance for sure).

I went to Egypt and Jordan when I was in my second trimester with my first.  It was great!  Australia feels a little different because of the length of the flight, but with precautions it'd be fine.  I'd probably try for a business class upgrade, though.  The other thing to think about is care for preemies.  24-26 weeks is about viable, so God forbid if something happened, you'd want good NICU care available.  And maybe special travel insurance.

I’d go in a heartbeat.  Sydney is wonderful and you won’t be too far along, when many airlines have restrictions for pregnant passengers flying.  Enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible and don’t look at it as a crutch.  Once your little one gets here, things become exponentially more difficult...but still worth it.  Unless you have a high risk pregnancy, there is no reason not to go on this trip.  Just stay hydrated, eat a lot of snacks and walk around to keep swelling down and you’ll do great.
