What to expect from an HSG

Question

I’m having an HSG tomorrow to find out if I have any blockages preventing me from getting pregnant. We’ve been trying for 2 years. What should I expect from this procedure?

Honestly, it was one of the 2 most painful experiences of my life, and my tubes are completely clear.  My doc gave me a cervix relaxer, prescription pain meds, and Xanax to take before.  As soon as the pain started, none of those meds had any effect.  It lasted a few minutes, and was excruciating.  After, my doc said she should have put me under for the procedure.

For me it was almost painless. Didn't feel the catheter, and when they injected the fluid, he told me it would feel like pressure. It felt like a period cramp. I watched on the monitor and saw that everything was fine. Afterwards alot of fluid came out, but they gave me a giant pad for that. I was crampy for the rest of the day. 
3/10 for the pain.

Mine was also pain free, it’s so quick!! Just like a smear!

It was very painful for me. It was as bad as labor contractions. It is quick though! All pain went away as soon as it was done. Had bleeding for about 1.5 days after.
I would never do it again but I don’t regret doing it!

I took 2 ibuprofen and felt no pain. A strange sensation while the fluid was pumped. It doesn’t take long. You’ll be fine!

I had one today and it was not bad at all just some mild cramping and possibly some spotting afterward you should be fine after a day or two.

The first one I had it was fine until that night and I was unable to walk or get up for two days because I was in so much pain it felt like all of my internal organs were swollen and inflamed I'm allergic to everything and they said I may have had a slight reaction the next time I had it done they put in last died and I had slight cramping like a bad period

Mine was painful! But that might be because they found blockage in my left tube. Hurt so bad but it can also clear blockages so I’m not against it.

It’s quick, maybe 2 minutes tops. It’s exciting to think of it as unblocking any areas and paving the way. I would do it again.
