Feeding Schedule?

So my son is 2 months today... He's got his 2 month shots tomorrow. I'm going to ask the pediatrician this question when I get there but I thought I'd get some opinions here before I go in!
My son was 3 weeks early and only weighed 5 lbs 15 oz at birth. At an appointment last week, he was up to 9 lbs 13 oz. My husband thinks he's still too small and wants to continue feeding him every 3 hours regardless {namely overnight} but I think he's doing just fine and can sleep longer as long as he's not crying. Should I be feeding him on a strict schedule or should I let him sleep? I think he's growing just fine but he's still in the 4th percentile.

It sounds like your LO is gaining good weight and shouldn’t need to be woken up for feedings anymore. I would definitely still recommend asking your pediatrician first, but here’s my story...
My LO was born 4 weeks early weighing 6lbs 6oz. Then she lost almost a full pound after she was born weighing 5lbs 8oz when we left the hospital. At her 1 month check up she weighed 7lbs 14oz. Dr told us there was no need to wake her for feedings anymore since she was gaining weight. We stopped waking her for feedings and just went with her schedule. We just had her 2 month check up and she weighed 10lbs 7oz so she’s still gaining good weight.

Since your LO has regained and passed his birth weight I wouldn’t wake him to eat.  Rather I’d feed on demand.  My LO was 4 weeks early weighing 6.5 lbs.  At her two month appointment last week she weighed in at 11lbs and 11 ounces.  Folks comment that she is chunky.  Dr said she’s fine so I’ll continue feeding on demand.  See what your doctor says. Let the baby sleep if Ped is not concerned!!!  They grow while sleeping! Make sure you give full feedings each time he eats - if baby gets sleepy between breasts change diaper between but make sure he gets as much as he can. A baby that eats better will sleep better and grow better!

I’m curious about the same thing. I don’t wake to feed but wonder if I should based on her being small for two months. She’s gaining weight but just seems petite. Also I’m breastfeeding and it’s uncomfortable if I don’t pump or feed every 3-4 hours.

My LO was born at 5 pounds 9 ounces. At this two week appointment he had doubled weight and my pediatrician said I didn’t need to wake him to feed, just feed on demand. He’s still gaining at a good rate.  We go for his two month appointment this week, I’m curious what he weighs now

My daughter was 4 days early, 5lbs 14oz. When we left the hospital she was 5lbs 4oz. Her one month check up she was 6lbs 4oz. 
I feed on demand. I do not wake my daughter up for feedings. The only thing my pediatrician asked for was one formula bottle supplemented at night to promote more calories for weight gain! As long as baby is having enough wet/dirty diapers, you feed baby how ever you want!

My personal opinion (based on absolutely nothing scientific LOL) is to feed him every 3-4 hours during the night if he’s still that small. That’s what I would do but def ask your doctor!
