It was a stormy night...
So literally I have the most cliche opening line ever for my birth story. Lol
It actually was a dark and stormy night. So the night started as me being hormonal and arguing with my man. Well finally he passes out around midnight from having a few shots. And as I got up from where I was sitting. I was in a pool of some kind of liquid. I honestly thought I peed myself. So I went to use the bathroom. And started feeling really bad contractions. Like holy hell I was being punched in the gut. And then my contractions came every 4 mins apart. So I was determined to get to the hospital one way or another without waking my man. (I was still mad at him and wanted him to sleep off the alcohol). So I grabbed my bag and not thinking. I also grabbed his phone and both car keys. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ don’t know why I did that. But. I left and headed to the hospital. Holy f*** I wanted to punch someone and have them feel how much those contractions hurt. Well on the way to the hospital there’s a thunderstorm. Lightening is flashing through the sky and seems like it’s striking near me. Now I’m freaking out turning up the radio cus I hate the sound of thunder. Trying to sing to get my mind off the pain and loud thunderclaps. Now the hospital is only a 10-15 min drive but it felt like fu***ing eternity trying to get there. Mind you there is a car next to me on the freeway giving me weird looks because I probably looked like I was going to murder someone at this point. Finally taking the off ramp and the hospital is right there. I pull into the ER around 12:30-1am. As I open the door I’m hit with another contraction. And I felt bad because the guys there heard every single swear word for a few mins flying out of my mouth. So they wheel me inside and the ladies at the desk are taking care of me and rushing me into the room all while trying to do paperwork for admitting me. Next thing I know everything comes off I’m on a bed hooked up to machines while 20 different people are coming in and out of the room. My phones dying. I’m trying to call my MIL or SIL or someone to go pick up my man. Finally I get in touch with one of his friends. Convince him to go get my man and bring him to the hospital. Now I’m 4.5 cm and everyone in the hospital is being very patient with me as I’m still swearing 🤬 through my contractions. Found out that my water broke and that was the fluids I happened to be sitting in at home. (Now I know I didn’t pee myself. Lol) so now it’s somewhere between 2:30-3am and I’m waiting on my epidural. (Another eternity later) I’m still swearing up a storm. Also the lights in the hospital were flickering because of the storm and now it’s pouring outside and I can hear the rain hitting the window. Also waiting for my man to get here. Now it’s around 4am. Finally I get my epidural (best thing in the world btw!!!) nice. Now I don’t feel to much pain and also couldn’t feel my right leg. But I started feeling pressure so my nurse checks me. She tells me ok. It’s game time we’re going to do some practice pushes. I didn’t know what that meant by practice pushes but I asked her if I’m dilated. She tells me yes 10cm. Now let’s start pushing with your contractions. Oh shit. This is where I panicked. For an hour I tried practice pushes and finally my man gets there. Walks in the room like nothing. And then my heart melt as I seen his face. So now I’m going for it. Now my room is filled with people again. He’s holding one leg my nurse is holding my other. And my dr is cracking jokes down there. 🙄 but I’m laughing along with her. Next thing you know. 5:48am my lil( well not so lil actually) girl was born. Perfect and healthy. Weighing at 8lbs 6.9oz.

The moment my man held her and they locked eyes. I bawled my eyes out. All the complications and pain I went through with my pregnancy was all worth it. We welcomed Kaila Maridan Ku’upulelehua R. into our hearts and our extended family. Now the rest of the team that was in our room was getting her cleaned and what nots. But my dr isn’t done yet. Now she’s sewing me up and still cracking jokes. My man is turning into a big baby. Crying and saying he’s sorry for arguing with me. Oh boy. I think the nurse thought we were weird for looking like a bunch of softies and crying to each other. Lol but I give that nurse props. She put up with me and my endless swearing. And was holding my hand until my man got there. And that’s my birth story.
