Terrifying vacuum delivery birth story

fe

So this story is long and sort of all over the place because I’m going off very little sleep but I really wanted to write this out while it’s still somewhat fresh in my mind! (Posted in NOV 2019 babies as well)

So for about over a week I was 4 CM dilated and contracting but not feeling it. I had plans for Tuesday November 5th to be induced because my placenta was aging rapidly. Well of course because we set a date that wouldn’t happen.

On Sunday November 3rd at 7:50 AM I woke up to one sharp pain in my back and my water broken. I was having contractions two minutes apart and we live 20+ minutes from the hospital so we had to really book it. We got into the hospital parking lot and I fell to the ground hunched over in pain so my boyfriend ran and got me the wheel chair and wheeled me upstairs.

Of course they tried to ask me the usual questions but when I was unable to respond AT ALL they were like let’s get you a room and they wheeled me in there quickly and I was already 10 cm dilated. Lucky me? I was in so much pain sobbing because I NEEDED an epidural well the anesthesiologist was currently helping someone else so they got me the laughing gas. I HATED it, it made only my face feel numb and heavy. Then finally the anesthesiologists came in and I had to sit up and I was able to get the epidural at 10 CM dilated. I didn’t even feel a thing because contractions were so bad. Epidural worked but not on my right thing area... then when pushing time came about an hour or so later it COMPLETELY wore off. I felt like my pelvis bones were being broken. Then to make it worse I couldn’t keep going because of the angle she was at.

We then had to have a man come and put the vacuum inside me which was the absolute most painful thing out of anything. It felt like I had a knife inside my vagina scraping it and at first I couldn’t push because I was in so much pain screaming I couldn’t do this I looked at my boyfriend and I kept saying I can’t do this. Then finally I just started screaming and three pushes with the vacuum and she was out born at 1:51 PM I felt a very good amount of relief once her head came out but then pain again once she came the rest of the way. I held her till her umbilical cord stopped pulsating and then I had my boyfriend hold her because I was so tired and in so much pain still. My placenta fell out about 30 minutes later and I only needed a couple stitches which near the end the medicine they gave me for the stitches wore off so I could feel her stitch the last few in. I had very minor tearing somehow.

Honestly for my first baby that was a complete whirlwind but absolutely worth it. She is PERFECT she eats like a complete champion and has had no problem latching from the moment she came out she was a pro and still has been so amazing. My colostrum had already came in before she was born so feeding her has felt very easy just tiring. The only thing that still hurts me is when I pee and now two days later is very minor and I was able to go poop and not even feel it and that felt like such a victory to me lol.

I would do it all over again for this beautiful girl.
