Umbilical cord

My babies umbilical chord fell off and it’s a little blood in the belly button and around.. I was told not to clean or mess with it while it was still on.. to just keep it dry. So now that it’s off how do I clean it? Do I use alcohol or just regular warm water. And do I do it Around or can I clean the actual belly button .? My first child’s didn’t bleed so we just have her a bath later that night
