Foundation tips?

Hey girls! 
I’m having trouble finding a foundation that matches my skin tone. It’s either too light, or too dark! I’m kind of new to really being into makeup, so I’m clueless as to how to match it. Any tips?

You might need to mix two tones to find your color. But a good rule with foundation is that you never want it to be darker, so having it be a shade lighter is fine
