Painful period

Just stopped my birth control last month and my cramps are the worst I've ever had in my life. I really want a baby so I dont want to take it anymore but it was the only thing that made my periods bearable. Any suggestions? Yes I take ibuprofen in the day time or before bed normally but when I get up super early in the morning I can never go back to sleep because the pain is just so bad. Anybody else experience this ?
