Wondering why my doctor prescribed clomid so soon
So I am only 24, and we have only been ttc for 5 cycles. We have been not trying not preventing for 9 cycles though. My periods have been super irregular since coming off birth control (20-37 days with lots of spotting and never even close to a positive opk even testing 3 times a day every day in my cycle with a 4 hour hold). I was also recently diagnosed w/ pcos (we did transvaginal ultrasound and bloodwork to see testosterone levels).
Anyway, my doctor prescribed me clomid, but I was shocked because we have only been ttc for 5 cycles (my cycles lately are less than a month, like 20 days, so really we have only been ttc for 4 months).
Did anyone else have such an easy time getting a clomid prescription? I know I am very fortunate that I have a doctor who really supports me but I’m wondering if this is weird because we have not been ttc for a year yet.
Are there any risks in taking clomid before having tried for a year naturally? Why would my doctor prescribe it so soon? I just feel so uneducated on all this :(
