When Should first ultrasound be? Should I have one or blood work before I tell my in-laws on Thanksgiving?

We want to tell my in-laws that we’re pregnant on Thanksgiving but I will be seven weeks then. I’m five weeks six days now and haven’t had an ultrasound or bloodwork yet should I get either before? I had a miscarriage before so I’m cautious telling everyone. Or should I just wait until Christmas to tell them when I will be further along and hopefully had an ultrasound by then.

Mine were always at 8 weeks. Doctor said risk on miscarriage drops once you see or hear heartbeat. I think after your first ultrasound you can tell them if you want. You can tell them whenever. But if you wanted to tell them around the holidays but wanted to be safe after your ultrasound is a good time

My first ultrasound was at 12 weeks because I'm not high risk, didn't have any fertility treatments, and knew roughly when I conceived.

I’d wait until you’re at least 8 weeks - not much shows on ultrasound before then and your pictures will be better if you’re a little farther along ;) good luck!
