Would you be upset if your mom and sister booked a vacation for themselves on your daughters FIRST birthday? (First Grandchild)

We had plans for my mom to make a cake and celebrate my daughters first birthday at her house (they live 45 mins) but now I’ve been told my sister has booked a ticket for her and my mom on the 29th (my daughters first birthday) on a vacation for 9 days to go meet this guy my sister has been talking to over the internet/ potential boyfriend (like 90 day fiancé shit). 
Would you be hurt? 
This is her very first birthday for the only grandchild they have that they claim that they “love very much”

Nah. I mean i would feel a bit hurt, but she is your daughter, not theirs🤷‍♀️they have no obligations what so ever to do anything for her bday. I would only be uoset if her father decided to do this🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️they can celebrate her before they go.

Nope. Instead of finding pain.... find a solution. Have the birthday earlier or later...baby wont even know it.  The day is not important... the celebration of life is.

I have a different opinion, I’ll probably get eaten alive, but I don’t think making a cake for her grandchild trumps accompanying her daughter on a trip like that. I also don’t think my nieces first birthday is more important than meeting someone who will potentially be my future. Your daughter won’t know if you celebrate a week early or a week late. It seems like you have deemed your daughter to be more important than anything anyone else has going on in life, sand to you she is, but other people don’t have to feel the same.

Given that you guys had already made plans, yeah I'd be annoyed. Cancelling plans without a good reason (which that is not) is super rude & shows a lack of care on their part.

Yea I think it’s normal to be upset. I dislike flaky people, if you guys made plans, especially something as important as your daughters first birthday, she should honor the commitment. It is what it is tho, just do your own thing as a family. I wouldn’t made plans in the future since she’s unreliable

Normally no but after plans are made and a date has been set yes I'd be upset if they up and changed it that would make me feel as if they thought this guy was more important with the plans already made they could have set the day to leave to the day after the party but if you had just assumed your mom was gonna make the cake and you were gonna have it at your house then no she's not wrong

Yes, I would definitely be upset. My MIL didnt show up to my son's first or second birthday parties (both of which were just family and mostly her own family attending so its not like shes going to a party of people she doesnt know). Its her loss, but Im still angry she doesnt prioritize him in her life. She had the audacity to request we get her a necklace for mothers day with a name charm for him, my step son, and her grand dog (wtf?) on it...like NO Im not buying you gifts so you can pretend to be a real grandparent and a part of our lives. Anyway, I digress and definitely relate to your feelings of upset!

Sounds like your sister knew what she was doing.. I feel like I sense jealousy 🤷🏻‍♀️ what auntie does that to their first niece.. a grandma and an auntie that dontbcare to think at all. Shame. But you celebrate your babygirls bday the best, special way possible and for her 2nd birthday don't mention anything to your mom and sister. My opinion I would do that you show me you don't care made plans with mom for baby's bday mom decides to go meet some guy with other daughter umm bye! Not included in baby's special moments for a while.. I'm petty like that don't mess with the baby.

I would be upset. Your sister made it about herself. I doubt your mom had much say over it. Can you guys celebrate her first bday early? Or later? Lots of people celebrate on different days to accommodate schedules and such.
