Sweep?!

Question

Can someone talk me through a sweep? 
I know the basics of what it does and how they do it but would love to know how people found it! All you ever hear is the horror stories and it’s terrifying🤦🏻‍♀️

I just had a cervical sweep done a couple hours ago. Was 3cms dilated and 50% effaced already at 39+3 weeks. Not painful for me, some mild twinges and cramping. We'll see what it brings.

I had one yesterday at 39w2d. Little bit of pain, but more just uncomfortable - like a really bad cramp. Procedure took around 20 seconds. I had period like cramps, potentially contractions for a couple of hours after - a warm bath made me feel better and the cramping stopped. Had some brown spotting, otherwise nothing since, so I don't believe mine was successful in kick starting labour, yet....

I had two done. One at 38w4d and one at 39w3d. I personally didn’t find them painful, just uncomfortable because of the pressure. First time I was 1cm 50% dilated. Second time doctor stretched me to 2cm and 80% dilated. 
I started losing my mucus plug in chunks right after my first sweep. My doctor broke my water today to start my induction.

I've had 2 sweep I'm 40+4 they arent painful  just uncomfortable. 
Its quick and easy.
I had my bloody show and lost my mucus plug 2 days after my first  sweep. 
But neither have worked lol
