Membrane Sweep?

The OB said if I’m still pregnant next week we can do a membrane sweep at my appointment. I’m 1cm dilated. Is it worth it? What was your experience with getting one?

I haven’t gotten it done yet, but i dont see the harm in doing it, like another lady said, its only gona work if the baby is ready, so why not🤷🏻‍♀️

I got one today and am having small contractions/ cramping but I’m still waiting for something significant. It was uncomfortable and painful as shit!!!!

Thanks everyone! I had it today and it didn’t hurt, just uncomfortable. I’m being induced tonight at 39 weeks for high blood pressure so I won’t know whether it helped or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️😊

It wouldn’t hurt. It’s not the most comfortable feeling. I had it done yesterday and within 12 hours I had my bloody show and started having contractions. They’re not regular or consistent, but my body is trying! I was 40+3 when i got it done and I’m being induced tomorrow at 40+5.

i’m 40w5d i had no signs of labor until yesterday after my membrane sweep.I had contractions all night and lost my mucus plug about an hour ago.I wanted to try what i could before having to be induced on monday😭
Im starting to feel like my baby boy will come on his own.

I got a sweep at 39+1 when I was only 1/2 a centimeter dilated, had some spotting that day. The next day I woke up with light consistent contractions and had them the rest of the day. I ended up having my baby at 39+4.

I’m 39w4d and had a sweep done on Monday.  I had light cramping and some spotting Monday and Tuesday and today I started loosing my mucus plug so I’m hoping it worked for me.  Fingers crossed 🤞.  The sweep isn’t really painful just mostly uncomfortable but most people say they only work if baby is ready.

It doesn’t hurt to try! It’s uncomfortable but it’s not anything that’s gonna absolutely scar you for life lol. It worked with my 1st two I went Into labor within that week. Now this one is stubborn I had a membrane sweep Friday, had my bloody show on Saturday & nothing has happened yet. 😢 every pregnancy/baby is different.

Debating on this too, had my 39 week app today and she said i could come in Friday and get one if i haven’t gone into labor yet I’m 2cm and 80% effaced.
