Husband gaining too much weight...

Li

My husband and I have been together for 10 years. When we met he was a gym rat (6pack, muscles everywhere, ate healthy, etc). I too was in really good shape.

As the years have gone by, my husband has gradually been putting on the pounds. I have nicely brought it up to him a few times but it always goes bad because his feelings get hurt. So, I stopped bringing it up.

Fast forward to now, and he is the heaviest I have ever seen him and has REALLY high cholesterol and is constantly complaining of his knees hurting. I am definitely worried that if he doesn't change, he will end up with bigger health problems.

As for me, I more or less maintained a healthy weight (105-115lbs) during our relationship up until my first pregnancy. On my 1st pregnancy, I gained about 19lbs (lost most of them after birth) and on my 2nd pregnancy I gained about 17lbs (I haven't lost any). My boys are 3years and 4 months and I currently weight 130lbs but I'm ready to lose the weight. My ideal weight is about 115lbs so I am 15lbs over what I want to be at.

Today my husband was complaining about his knees again, and I couldn't help but remember that last night he ate 4 out of the 5 burgers I made and how the weight he is carrying is probably the reason for his discomfort. So, I again tried to nicely point out that perhaps his weight is the reason for his health issues.

Well, right away he got defensive and said "you have gained much more than me with our 2nd son." I know he didn't mean to be hurtful and he was just deflecting but I was a little hurt.

Last night I told him I am officially going to start eating clean and work on losing the weight and all he said was ok. I asked if he wanted to join me and he said, "we'll see" so I don't think he is.

I am probably rambling, it's just I don't know what to do to get him to want to change.

I met him at 5foot 8inches weighing 180lbs ALL muscle and now he is about 235-240lbs mostly fat. 😓
