Are you truly ready to have your baby?

I'm. Conflicted. 
I can't wait to not be pregnant anymore. But like. Do I HAVE to give birth?? When it was months away I was like oh yeah bring it on and now I'm 39 weeks and I'm like... oh fuck I have to push this kid out my vagina. Soon. And it is going to be INTENSE. Fuuuuuuuuckkkk.  
I'm planning my second home birth. My first went basically perfectly, so I have no reason to expect that my second won't go fine, but man. It's just still so intense. The pain is manageable but I'm also so fucking tired all the time anyway with a two year old and just life and I'm like... this is not going to be a fun time. And it's coming soon. Whether I like it or not. 
So yeah, as much as I'm ready to get this kid out so I can lay on my back and bend over to tie my shoes... I'm not entirely looking forward to HOW he's going to come out. 🤦🏻‍♀️

This is my third kid in 5 years so I KNOW what postpartum is like. It’s hard. But so is the end of pregnancy. So while I’m not quite ready for the postpartum hard, I’m ready for a different kind of hard.

This is my third and our last. I am ready, in the sense that I would love to have those baby snuggles now 😍 and my daughters are so ready to meet their baby sister too! But since this is my last I get sad thinking about how one of these days it’ll be my last day to feel baby kicks and stretches (even if they hurt) and that I won’t be able to feel that amazing feeling again 😭

Do I have the things I need for baby in the even he's born? No.
Do I want him out ASAP anyway? Yes.
I'm 38 weeks on Monday. I'm full term. My husband is making me more nervous about having a big baby by the day. He can come out now.

I just had my second (due Dec 2nd but he decided to come at 38 weeks). I don’t think you’re ever “ready”. If it’s your first there’s literally no way to be ready, and if it’s your subsequent child, you’ve mentally blocked out how hard the first few weeks are. 
However, the end of pregnancy is also hard, and you know you still have the newborn phase ahead of you... so I’d rather be slowly getting through the 4th trimester (as exhausting as it is) than stuck in the 3rd and still dreading postpartum and those first few weeks.
