Constipation?

So my girl is 6 months, and eats purées twice a day. Last 3 days her poops have been harder than normal... not completely hard, but hard enough to form a round shape. She’s been pooping twice a day as usual. Doesn’t seem uncomfortable. Wondering if this is still considered constipation? I’ll call her ped Monday since it’s not an emergency but just curious. She’s also ebf.

It might be normal. Once they start solids their poops start to get harder, and some foods may make poop firmer too (bananas do for many babies).

I usually feed my babe some prunes once a day. Whether it’s the purée or if he’s having oatmeal I will add about a shot of prune juice to it. It’s helped him so much!

Are you BF as often as before the purées? If not, maybe try some water. Our pediatrician recommended this once baby eats more solids. Our daughter is still primarily BF and just in the “tasting” phase of solids, so we’re not there yet. If she doesn’t seem uncomfortable or like she’s straining to poop, and she’s still having poopy diapers, she’s probably not constipated.
