Winter coat for infant?

Are you ladies planning on getting winter coats for your little ones? My MIL is trying to convince us to buy a coat or snowsuit, but I’m not sure we’ll need it since babies can’t wear coats in their car seats and we don’t plan to have him outdoors for long periods too often. We live in Atlanta, so it definitely doesn’t snow here. Right now, we’re thinking long sleeves, a fleece jacket, hat, booties, and blankets will do. What do you all think?

Nope. They can’t wear it in the car seat so I don’t see a point. Maybe a hat. I keep her covered in a warm blanket while in the car seat.

This has been a huge issue of contention with my MIL and I. My decision is to do a hat, socks or booties, a warm fleece blanket over her body/legs, and a car seat cover when going in/out of the car. We are in Memphis so it doesn’t really get too bad here either. Stand firm if you are getting pushback, it was different for their generation I have to keep reminding myself.

We live in Finland and had -13 celsius two weeks ago so we have several winter overalls in different thickness and sizes 😅 the Winters are so weird nowadays, +2C one day, -20C the next.  We use a lot of layering with knitted wool clothing under the overalls and my baby will let me know very quickly if he’s too hot 😅 I just try his neck if he’s too cold or hot. Trust yourself, you’ll know what’s best for your baby!

Yep! Not a waterproof one though since he won't be playing in the snow or anything. Just a warm one for walks etc. Tested it out today to watch daddy put up the Christmas lights 😊

I live in Michigan and winters can get brutal af here. I bough a skip hop car seat cover for my son and using it again with my daughter. It’s awesome!

I live in Ontario and we only have one because I got it as a hand me down lol hes too little to actually play in the snow, he cant wear it in the car seat and it will probably be too cold most of the time to spend an extended period of time outside since hes still so young. The only time he might wear it is if we maybe go on a walk or something like that. Or since winter seems to last sometimes until april or may here depending on the year lol he might use it more then when hes older

No because they’re not car seat safe. 
I dress baby in warm clothes, buckle him in his car seat inside, and cover with a blanket.

We used this for our first and looks like our second will also fit into it this winter. It's thin enough to pass the carseat safety test.

We got one as a baby shower gift but I definitely don’t think it’s necessary, especially if it’s not going to be super cold where you are. We haven’t used ours yet, but we are planning to go see some Christmas lights at the zoo over thanksgiving and will probably put it on her then.
