Would this be wrong?

So, my husband and I are really struggling for a girl’s name... we’ve done everything possible to think of some that we BOTH like, but we just simply have different tastes apart from 1 name..... Anastasia.
However, the sibling of someone I went to school with recently lost their baby at 38 weeks and they had chosen the name Anastasia. I don’t really speak to the person I went to school with (just have them on Facebook), and I’ve never spoken to their sibling.
Would it be in bad taste or even bad luck to use the name?

If you don’t talk to this person and don’t really interact with them socially I would keep the name 🤷🏼‍♀️ her situation is sad and I feel for her but that doesn’t mean she owns the name

I get superstitious about silly things and I know I wouldn’t be able to forget the association or worry that it might be bad luck. However, objectively it would be fine to use. It’s not someone you have any type of relationship with.

I agree with Tabbie and am in kind of the same boat but we have talked about this a lot and aren't changing the name. I have had 5 miscarriages and no successful pregnancies yet but we started talking names during our first pregnancy four years ago. I have a friend who had an early miscarriage, around 6 weeks, and she is convinced it was a boy. They chose a name but it's the exact name that we had also chosen. We decided that when we have a boy we will still use it and I know that it will be extremely difficult for her but it was difficult for us too. I'm not close friends with her and we don't talk often so I'm hoping it won't offend her but I figure by the time we have a boy it will have been years, it's already been two, and it won't be so hard. It's possible she'll never even know 🤷🏼‍♀️

People can name their kids the same names, you can’t “steal” a name. Your kid will have that name a lot longer than you would probably even know of or think of that person. Just use the name you like.

You could always just change your settings so they can't see your posts or even just unfriend them to spare their feelings

No. That's my daughters name:) no one can "steal names" of people they don't even talk to!
