When is ivf offered?

Hi ladies
I am currently suffering my 3rd miscarriage this year. First February, 7 weeks, 2nd June, 6 weeks and 3rd now, 8.5 weeks. I have just been referred to the fertility specialist in my area (UK) and I’m wondering what kind of things we will discuss? We have been trying for now 17-18 months, I’m wondering will I be offered IVF treatment?
Anyone have any experience with this similar situation? Thanks. Sorry I’m very confused and scared at the moment🧡

I’m sorry for your losses. I experienced two miscarriages as well. I went to a fertility specialist who ran all the basic tests- and couldn’t find a “smoking gun” as to why I was miscarrying, so he recommended IVF so that we could PGS test (genetic test) the embryos and only implant genetically normal embryos. 
I am now 25 weeks pregnant with our first IVF transfer. 
For us, we didn’t want to risk another miscarriage by doing IUI (and possibly becoming pregnant with a non-viable embryo) or IVF with an untested embryo- I just didn’t think I could handle anymore heartache. 
Once the testing is done you’ll have a better idea of which route to go.

I’m very sorry for your losses.. I know what it feels like. 
I’ve had it all: preterm birth at week 20, early miscarriage, then chemical pregnancy, and now my doctor diagnosed me with unexplained infertility.. 
After all losses and several months of trying to get pregnant again, we have done 5 cycles of timed intercourse with Letrozole and Clomid. Nothing. 
And now my RE is suggesting IVF with chromosomal testing of embryos... 
I don’t know what to do. No strength or extra money. Insurance doesn’t cover anything.

This is very similar to me - I have had four early losses and today a new consultant I’m working with said IVF might be the best option for me given my age and low hormones (I’m 37, ttc for 19 months but also have me/cfs and a few other issues). 
However I’m currently under the recurrent miscarriage unit via NHS, and she has recommended I continue with these investigations too because for IVF to succeed we need to rule out any environmental reasons as to why I miscarry.
Have you done karyotype test? I’ve not but suggested to do this first - I think they genetically test you and your partners chromosomes to check for genetic abnormalities that may be causing MC’s.
I think they will likely want to investigate why you are miscarrying before jumping straight into IVF - so as to maximise chances.

I'm not sure how IVF works in the UK (I'm in the states) but I wanted to offer my condolences ❤ I also wanted to give you some hope, as I had 4 losses, and ivf worked for me. Good luck going forward!
