Yes. If he is sick. However your pediatrician should recommend what amount. When my son was sick and not eating/drinking, we gave him 1/2 the amount of formula he would normally drink in pedialtye. Example) 8 oz. bottles of formula = 4 oz. bottle of pedialyte. Your doctor may recommend a different amount though. Worth it to call and ask.

Yes but not as a supplement for regular formula, it’s supposed to provide fast hydration during a cold or stomach bug. They usually have you do 1 full day of only Pedialyte, then start doing 1/2 Pedialyte, half formula or breast milk for another day, then go back to their regular eating habits.

My 4 month old daughter had a cold and her pediatrician recommended clear/unflavored pedialyte only to supplement her formula if she wasn’t drinking enough and to thin it out because of all her excess mucus. I would check with your doctor before giving anything.
