Should people be allowed to take their children to currently war torn/very unsafe countries?
If someone currently lives in a country that is considered safe, should they be allowed to knowingly bring their non- adult aged children to a war torn country? For instance Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, democratic republic of the Congo, North Korea, etc. Basically places that are widely known to be dangerous, high risk of getting kidnapped, assaulted, bombings taking place daily, etc.
There’s always stories on the news and documentaries of people going to these places for charitable work and getting kidnapped. I generally already think any adult choosing to go to these places isn’t in their right mind, but they’re an adult so in my opinion if you want to take the risk, go for it. But I don’t think people should be able to put their children at risk like that when they are too young to decide for themselves. What are others opinions on this? Should it be the parents choice or should the government put travel bans on minors to countries like this?
