Need advice about a career! Please help!

When I was a little girl I would always dream of being a writer. I loved writing short stories about random things. But a career as a writer is a little less stable than say a career as an ultrasound tech. Which is what I went to college for. I haven’t graduated yet and I am, in fact, putting college on hold because I have a daughter and a husband and we needed extra cash so I decided to go to work instead. But while I was in college, I had to take English 101. I loved it. All we did was write essays and prompts. And multiple times my professor told me that my writing is good enough to be published. I took it with a grain of salt but it’s got me thinking. And I think I want to try my hand at free lancing but I don’t know how to start. Should I just start a blog or what? I don’t know what to do but I would love to write in my free time. I though about doing movie reviews because I love media. But anyways, are there any freelancers out there who want to give me some advice!?
