Is it possible to miss a twin?
So I’m pregnant with baby number three... I don’t absolutely think I’m having twins but I’m not confident in the midwife who did my dating scan. Before doing the scans, she told me she doesn’t know how to do ultrasounds. She proceeded to say she only knew how to do abdominal ultrasounds and she’s learning transvaginal at this point. I offered her my vagina to do a trans vaginal one only because I know you never actually learn until you do it. I have a high pain tolerance and I’m more than happy to help. (I worked in healthcare and have had lots of firsts; everyone starts somewhere) Besides all that, I was only 8ish weeks so an abdominal scan is not ideal. She proceeds to laugh at my offer and do a terrible abdominal ultrasound and show me “the baby” she kept saying “there’s the baby, do you see the heart beat?” When I In fact didn’t. I told her no and she just kept point at a blob. She was very shaky so it didn’t help the clearness of the already unclear scan. I was so disappointed. My husband took off from work which he is NEVER able to do because I wanted him to see a gummy bear like i saw with our previous baby. Anyways I asked her the heart rate she said “seems fast but it’s okay” she didn’t even know how to figure out how to calculate the heart rate. Am I crazy for thinking she could’ve missed a whole ass baby? This my fifth pregnancy but third live birth. I feel like I know how to read an ultrasound pretty well.
Here’s the pic. Jokes aside I do see a blob but I’m just soooo disappointed they gave me her for my appointment when I was scheduled with someone else.
This is my previous pregnancy, same gestational age.
Ps I think I’m just more upset with the whole experience....
