Is anyone else not particularly worried about letting baby watch cartoons?

I got so much flack for buying my baby a tablet for the car so he can watch a tv show or listen to an audiobook since we go see the grandparents at least every other weekend. I’m not dense and understand the important of limited screen time. Even as he gets older though I’m not going to be super strict or constantly worry about it? I know kids can get obsessed with technology these days but I feel like if a child has options and enjoys doing other things then they’ll be okay. My boyfriend and I have talked about this countless times, obviously he’s our first child, but as long as we introduce him to different activities and give him options we’re hoping he’ll grow up somewhat how we did. He’s even getting a play kitchen for his 1st birthday  👨🏼‍🍳  since we love cooking and baking around here! We’re also looking into moving back to Colorado as there are more outdoor activities, even for the whole family, then where we live now. 
I just needed to vent! It’s definitely going to be hard raising a child in today’s society. We shouldn’t be judging or acting like we know the solution. Trust me, it’s in the back of all our mommy minds how to give our kids a full and happy childhood!

It’s definitely all about balance! Screen time does change a baby’s brain waves and have a real impact development if overused but it sounds like you’re doing all the right things and using in moderation! 
(I will say.. it’s okay to let kiddos be bored sometimes, like in the car... as a kindergarten teacher I see an epidemic of kids who don’t know how to be bored.. you also don’t want your kiddo throwing a tantrum if they have no tablet in the car.. absolutely not trying to be preachy I just see the real impacts of overstimulated kiddos)

Nope. No shame here! My baby loves tv. Especially T.O.T.S. He gets excited when he hears the theme song! Lol people can judge me. But unless you’re somehow his momma, I could give two shits lol

I’m honestly not worried either, kids are gonna watch tv. It’s gonna happen. Someone on this group made a comment to me bc I commented saying I put her in her swing and she watches tv, she completely went off saying that she shouldn’t even be watching any tv until she’s at least 1 year old. 🙄🙄

See I see things a little differently. You cannot escape technology in today's society, so why not try to let our babies be free of that for as long as possible? They'll all get tablets and smartphones eventually, but it doesn't meant I have to put it in his hand. I think the sooner we do, the sooner they run the risk of ignoring all other activities and input. But if they don't know it, they can't be missing out. 
Same with junk food and sweets. Obviously he'll get them eventually, but I want him to enjoy healthy foods for as long as possible. 
Don't get me wrong, I grew up with tv and a gameboy and candy but...don't we all want better for our babies than what we had? Just my philosophy on that.

I was adamant that my child wouldn’t get screen time when I was pregnant with her. Then I had her and reality set in and I jumped right off my high horse 🤣
I believe balance is very important when it comes to this. And complete avoidance isn’t really necessary. I’ve seen children literally OBSESSED with their screens. My goal is to avoid that. But total elimination is not necessary in order to do that. 
I don’t feel bad that my daughter sees some tv. She likes watching football with her daddy 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
Once she gets to the age where she can beg for a certain show or throw a fit about it then maybe things will be different, I don’t know. But I certainly don’t feel bad about her occasionally catching some screen time and when I used a baby sensory video on YouTube to get through our 10 hour road trip I sure as hell didn’t feel bad about that either!!

My son loves Little Baby Bum. I keep it on and move him from his jumparoo, to his chair and to the floor for tummy time and put toys in the floor. Babies get bored so easy and so fast that they are always looking around to see something different. So he will look up at the tv for a minute, then grab a toy and play with it, then scoot a little, roll over, look at the tv again, grab a toy again.. it's all about keeping them entertained. If I sat him in front of the tv and left him, he wouldn't be happy. So I move him around a lot to let him get his exercise. But we keep Little Baby Bum on in our house and I'm not ashamed lol. I'd rather hear him yelling in excitement and cooing than screaming and crying. You do what works for you and your LO!

I don’t put the tv on for my baby, but if my older kids or dh and I watch it then I don’t shield him from it. Sometimes it catches his eyes, but most of the time he’s only got eyes for my boobs, lol.

My daughter loves watching tree house I let her watch it because it’s the o my way I’ll get anything done. And she watch tv when she’s on the floor no mater what’s on. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal just, I just don’t sit her down it front of the tv all day long.
