Best advice is to keep an open mind! With my first I was dead set I was going natural. I ended up being induced due to High BP and kept refusing any pain medication. After 48 hours and on my second round of pitocin I caved and got the epidural. I was so thankful that I did because I was able to relax. This time I hope to go without but have an open mind unlike last time

i didn’t have a distinct plan, but my ideal birth would’ve been a vaginal delivery with just IV pain meds. i was open to an epidural, but not 100% set on one. now at 37 weeks i’m ready to schedule my c-section due to a narrow pelvis. i rather go through it than try and risk hurting my baby trying to push her out. like someone else said.. have an open mind. labor is something you really can’t plan because anything can happen.

Having GD and a high risk pregnancy forced me to accept really early on that birth plans are essentially useless and that I have to keep an open mind, so for that, I’m grateful in that sense because I won’t be shocked or feel like my body failed me no matter what happens. I never imagined myself needing to be induced, but since I am, I’m absolutely taking the epidural.

I chose all natural but I expect to use Nitrous.  It is very mild, doesn’t impact the baby and just makes transition manageable.  Did it with my daughter and doing it again.

Definitely keep an open mind! I had a horrendous birth with my first where we both contracted sepsis so my birth plan went straight out the window. We can’t predict how are bodies will cope with the pain of mentally how we will cope with the pain.
I say know your limits and if it’s too much it’s ok to ask for help. We don’t get any medals for the way we give birth. The most important thing is that you and baby are both safe and well

I would say it take it one step at a time. I was hoping it would be all natural but in the end I had to be induced. I took it one step at a time after that and went through the rest of labor without any other medication

I caved with my first after planning on doing natural and got the epidural several hours into labor due to pain shooting down my legs. I regret it because I then had horrible back pain for ever a year...this time I’m very determined to go without the epidural that daily pain wasn’t worth a few hours of no pain in my opinion.
