How terrible is a c section?

I have to have a c section this time around due to having rectal surgery last year and concern of pushing tearing scar tissue open.  I am
Terrified of having a c section and just want to cry. With my first I had a vaginal delivery.

I tried to do things vaginally but it wasn’t working out due to my stubborn little dude. The stuff they did during the induction hurt more than the c-section. The first couple times getting up to go to the bathroom were the worst part. Supportive partner & family makes all the difference. 🤗

the c section itself is nothing... the next couple days will be rough, but take the help you get from the hospital staff and the medicine they offer and you’ll pull through. drink plenty of water!

I had an emergency c-section after 53 hours of labour after being induced, and all I can say is thank god for having a section. 
I had a full spinal and the section from start to sewing back up was about 20 minutes. 
Looking to having another, I would definitely have another section. 
I think what made the section better was having a doting/caring/ hands on partner by your side as it is difficult moving around at first. Keep up on the painkillers and your fine.

I actually found recovery much nicer than when I had a vaginal delivery. I wore my beloved belly band and it helped keep everything much better. Take it easy and you’ll be fine.

I just had my first baby via c section in August. It was not a planned c section, they found out out she was breech when I was 6cm. My surgery went amazing. I didn't watch but my SO did, it was a pretty weird feeling when they were pulling her out because you can feel the pressure of them wiggling the baby out. I started shaking pretty bad after surgery which is normal so I didn't get to hold my daughter or breastfeed for about 30 minutes but her dad got to trim her cord and hold her as soon as she got cleaned off (she passed meconium while I was in labor). I asked for anti nausea medication before I went into surgery because I knew I would end up getting sick, and I did about an hour later and the next day (I was sensitive to the spinal block they gave me). Less than 12 hours after surgery I was up and walking pretty easily, the day I got home from the hosptial (3 days pp) I was up moving around, doing laundry, taking care of my baby 100% on my own while my SO was working 12+ hour shifts. I never took any pain relievers stronger than ibuprofen and that was only for the first 4 days. I was completely pain free within 2 weeks. I 100% believe I had an easier recovery than if I would have had a vaginal birth.

My gall bladder surgery recovery was worse. I’ve had 2 c sections. This last one my son was transferred to a NICU 2 hours away 11 hours after birth, but I had to stay at my home hospital. I made myself get up snd walk as much as I could. I was discharged the very next morning. Other than being sore I was fine. Walking is a huge key to recovery!

I had a csection after 30 something hours of labor. I wish I would have opted for it earlier. My recovery was soo easy. I walked 8 hours after it, went to the restroom that same day. Only passing gas is what took forever😩 if not I would have left in one day rather than 2. Honestly I took the meds and I was fine. I don’t take pain well but my wisdom tooth removal hurt more than this....

Easier than a laparoscopic splenectomy! I had that at 6 months postpartum and holy smokes was that horrific pain from 5 small incisions. I was in pain after my c-section, but nothing like after my splenectomy. Maybe it was due to the hormones (having a baby is more fun than having an organ removed) or maybe it was the pain management the doctor set up for me. I was surprised to not be in that much pain. 
It was tough to sit up, but I figured out a system with the hospital bed so I could get in and our by myself (turn to side, sit up the bed slowly and pause when needed, then get one arm under the torso and one on the bed rail and do this sort of push up/pull up so the arms and upper back are doing the work instead of the core). I was in the hospital for a week, so I really did get a good system down. 
I had staples and they kept the pressure dressing on for five days due to a bleeding disorder I have. That helped with my pain a lot. Other women use belly bands/wraps but this was nice because it stayed put and moved with me. Although it took over a month for all the glue residue to get off my skin. 
The worst parts were having them take out the catheter (I had it for two days), having them push on my abdomen, and when I had an allergic reaction to a unit of platelets. 
What no one told me though - you shake like the dickens uncontrollably the first time you stand up. Even my teeth were chattering. I only stood for maybe 3 minutes while they did a wipe bath and changed my undergarments but I was so shaky! Also, gas travels up. I thought I was having a heart attack I had so much pain in my shoulder and collarbone. It had just moved from my abdomen and was normal. 
It wasn’t my imagined delivery (I wasn’t even conscious) and I hate my postpartum body with a passion, but it’s not the worst surgery I’ve had. If I had to, I’d accept doing it again.

Honestly I labored first 40 hours and had to have a c section after all that and was exhausted. The surgery was nothing. From the time they wheeled me into the operating room till the time I saw my daughter was 20 minutes. Just felt the pressure of them removing her but that was it. Never felt them cutting or closing. The next days are rough and don’t try to do it all in your own, accept help from staff and family/friends. You get better everyday. I promise it’s not as bad as you make it out to be in your head.
