Am I bad pet mom?

Question

My friend seems to think I'm giving them food that lacks nutrition that the store bought would give them. 
I give my dog lamb, chicken or turkey with rice and carrots and peas (make a gravy too) and my cats rice and gravy with the same either turkey, lamb or chicken for lunch and dinner(I make big portions so I can halve them). I make them oats and barley in the morning and give them all homemade dog and cat biscuits (I make those in advance) throughout the day. (Dog has peanut butter and pumpkin with some egg and flour and I bake them and cat is like a tuna bake put into bite size pieces.) 
She even brought me cat and dog food today claiming that she'd call animal control if I didnt feed them properly with that food. My animals are fat! I feel like feeding them this is healthier and that shes over-reacting. Idk what do yall think? It's not that I can't afford their food, it's just easier to do it for me this way because it's all ingredients I already buy and it spreads out more.

Cooking food for your pet is not abuse or neglect. It is important to ensure they’re getting enough of what they need and are the appropriate weight. Your friend is over reacting.

Actually, what you’re doing is better for them than store bought food. 100%. 
They are carnivores. They don’t want to be eating dried up food that has literally almost zero meat. Keep doing what you’re doing and if she calls, let her. They will laugh in her face. 
Raw and real meat is the best diet for cats and dogs.

I cook for my dog. The vet told me to because he has so many allergies. 
I borrowed a book from my library called  Home Cooking for your Dog by Christine Filardi. It has a chart in it that shows how much of certain things they should get based on their size.  I recommend reading it. It also has tons of recipes.

She’s probably heard that you shouldn’t feed animals human food and took the wrong end 😂 yes you can buy food in a tin for them but that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing they can eat, mine eats it but that’s because my dog is old and literally gets the runs if she has any other food, 
What you’re doing is great, I’d love to have the time to prepare food for my other 3 animals and they always get a Christmas dinner on Christmas! 
You’re definitely not a bad pet mum, and you most certainly are not neglecting your animals, if anything it shows you are a great pet mum by finding the time to always have meals made special for them! If she did call they wouldn’t even take the claim seriously, just try explaining that they are getting everything they need from the food you make and while you’re appreciative that she worries you do not want store bought food and your pets are happy and healthy

Your friend sounds a bit ignorant. I'm sure ur pets are healthy or else the vets would have said something to you. A vet would know if an animal is healthy or not. Keep doing what you are doing, that is feeding them fresh, clean food!

I personally feed mine grain free cat food, but homemade food is great for pets.
