Aminocentesis??

Question

Today at my MFM appt, they found 2 cysts on baby’s brain - which was said they will probably go away by 30 weeks. BUT - it is considered a marker for Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18, or Trisomy 13. No other markers were found and my 1st trimester blood results had came by normal. My high risk OB offered me amniocentesis to confirm baby is okay. 
Would you do it or no? 😕

It depends would the results make you terminate ? If not then no I wouldnt do it.  Comes with risk of infection, hurting baby and miscarriage.

My high risk doctor said not to worry about them bc nothing else on the scan suggested abnormalities and all my screenings were normal. He said we’d check again at 31 weeks. Those cyst can be completely normal pockets of cerebral spinal fluid that a lot of babies have until later on. I would need more signs that something is wrong. Did they see any facial abnormalities, any clinched hands, any skull, any heart, really any other signs that your baby has any genetic disorder bc by a 20 week anatomy scan my high risk dr said there would be other skeletal and organ abnormalities that we would see. Ask more questions then decide.

Since there were no other anomalies found, I would wait and have another scan in a couple weeks. At our anatomy scan they found two cysts on my sons brain but also found a heart defect, clubbed feet, small size, clenched fists, etc. We had an amnio to get some answers. My son had a rare syndrome. If you do go for the amnio just ask your provider what their specific rate of risks are. The general statistics online are outdated and inaccurate. I wish you and baby the best!!

i wouldn’t.... if the baby has something they’re gonna have it whether you get the amnio or not. it’s not worth the miscarriage risk to me

I’ve seen some stories on here that have had something similar and most of the time they went away, but it’s totally your choice.
