never ending periods

i’ve always had irregular periods, they have never come on time. i’ve had many months where i’ve skipped completely, been weeks late, and now i am experiencing a four week long period. it is very light with mild cramping, but i’m just so tired of it. i’ve changed birth controls many times trying to find the right one and there is no hope in sight. is this my life now? i also have a chronic illness and i’m unsure if that could be the cause of odd periods
