Ovarian Cyst
In September, I had been having pain on my lower right side. This lasted for about 3-4 weeks. At first the pain was more of just a discomfort, and became more intense as the weeks passed. The pain would come and go and I had never experienced anything like it. I am 28 and had been previously been diagnosed with IBS, so my first thought was that it was something gastrointestinal. However, after a few days of sleeping on a heating pad, I knew something else was going on. It felt like a balloon was blown up inside my stomach. Sitting and laying down was incredibly uncomfortable. So working was hard when I had to sit in a desk all day.
Finally I went to med express and then they sent me to the ER. The doctor said she believed I had an ovarian cyst. Then did an ultrasound, CT Scan, blood test, and everything came back inconclusive. She told me to follow up with my gynecologist within the next 3 days.
I hadn’t established a gynecologist since I moved, so I made an appointment with a new doctor.
She pretty much brushed me off and told me I was fine. Did a pelvic exam. And sent me on my way. I got in my car and just cried after leaving.
I set up an appointment with a family doctor in the same facility and she pretty much told me the same thing with no further examination because she was able to look at the CT scan and ultrasound from the ER.
I still don’t know what’s going on with my body but I know somethings not right. My doctor told me to see how the next few months go and just take ibuprofen. I’m more concerned that no one has been able to tell me what’s wrong. All the symptoms point to a cyst but no one was able to confirm if I even have one.
The pain went away for me for about 3 weeks and I thought it went away on its own but now it’s back in the same spot.
I feel lost as to what to do. I’m angry that my gynecologist and family doctor both told me that I just have to wait and see.
I’m not sure who to turn to at this point...
I keep reading horror stories about dead ovaries and my husband and I want to start trying to have kids next year. But mostly I just want to be able to sleep without being in pain...
