Coming out
So my first semester of college is finally wrapping up...yay! But through this semester I’ve come out to my parents as bisexual, and within the past couple of weeks as a lesbian. They have been extremely supportive, my mom even taking me to buy a new wardrobe to fit the person I am and want to be. Shortly after that, I made the decision to come out to my brother as well, and he said that it wasn’t really any of his business but he was glad I was honest with him about it, which was a good reaction! Now that it’s getting closer to Christmas, however, my sister and her family are coming to stay with us for about a week. I haven’t come out to her yet, but I also feel reluctant to go back to the way I was before(just a side note, I’ve started using a smaller sports bra to flatten my chest and wear more masculine clothing, and looking to cut my hair soon. I just don’t associate with the feminine side of me anymore and don’t want to hide this from her.) However, both my mom and my brother have warned me to not tell her, as she can have some mean or snarky comments at times and they don’t want me to get hurt from it and feel like I can’t be who I am around them. I’ve already made up my mind that I’m going to come out to her and tell her to her face, but don’t know exactly how to. I was wondering how some of you came out to family members that you didn’t exactly know how they were going to react or feel about it. Thanks!!
