So in love 🥰

My Little Girl arrived on Saturday morning. Waters broke on Friday evening at 23:00 (day she was due!), but wasn’t sure at first because it was just trickles! Phoned the hospital and they told me to come in and they would check for me. At this point I wasn’t even having contractions.

After dropping our fur baby off at my mum’s house, we went to the hospital. Contractions were starting and went from being 15mins apart to 10mins apart. They checked and said my waters had broken, but I was only 1cm dilated. Due to having GD; they kept me in for monitoring. They sent me up to the ward to get some sleep and gave me some paracetamol.

I was put on a ward with only one other lady who was in for observation and was fast asleep. My husband and I settled in for the wait. The midwife settled me in and said she would come back and do some checks later. About half an hour later, she came back and checked me and was still no further, so I tried to get some sleep.

After about an hour, I was in a lot of pain and the midwife recommended getting into the bath. So off we went to give it a go. If anything, the pain got worse! On the way back to my bed, I passed the midwife and said it hadn’t really helped. She smiled and said my contractions need to be at regular intervals, which they weren’t.

Armed with my contraction timer, my husband tracked my contractions for me. Despite my best efforts to be quiet for the other lady’s sake, the pain was getting unbearable. Breathing wasn’t helping and the paracetamol wasn’t doing a thing. Then after a particularly painful contraction which “didn’t feel right”, my husband went to find the midwife. After telling her that my contractions were minutes apart and very painful, she told him she was just finishing her lunch and would be through after and then carried on chatting to her colleague. Husband was furious.

Eventually, she came to check on me and I was mid contraction and she said she would examine me. This was about 6:30am. This contraction was long and I couldn’t help but cry. She told me to calm down and just breathe, so that she could examine me. The pain wouldn’t stop though and her getting cross with me wasn’t helping. After what seemed like forever, it stopped and she examined me. Let’s just say that after that, I’ve never seen someone move so fast.

She rushed me over to the deliver suite and within half an hour I had my little girl in my arms! Thank god tor the gas and air that I received off the midwife who actually delivered my little one.

The midwife said that they weren’t expecting me to be so quick seeing as it was my first baby. No stitches needed or anything!

So, here she is! Maisie Joyce 🌸. 6lbs 10oz. Due 6th Dec, but arrived on the 7th. Husband and I are so completely in love with her.
