Any federal employees here? Paid maternity leave

I see this is waiting to be signed for 12 weeks paid maternity leave for federal employees( and all employees are in the works too)—- obviously due in May but heard the goal is for oct 2020- anyone have any better info???

I’m so heartbroken, nothing I had seen before this said anything about non-immediate application. After seeing this though I googled specifically to see when it would start and I found different articles than I’d seen before saying Oct 2019 start. 
I was so excited when I first saw this last week. Obviously it’s too early for me, too, and since I’m a newer Fed I won’t have that much leave.

I’m due in May as well and was really hoping and praying it would go through sooner. They haven’t mentioned anything about it at my job tho

Our intranet site- I’m a VA employee.... gosh that would be amazing if they could get it through sooner... I do my best to save leave but I will have about 7-8 weeks save up for baby and will have to take the rest without pay....

Where did you see that it won’t take effect until October?

Someone was complaining about this in controversy corner. It's apparently expected to go through by Christmas but not taking effect until October.  I'm guessing they're taking the time to figure out funding and how to implement?
